oh friends in pie, I am finally back from my whirlwind vacation and so.many.things.have.happened. Mo and I rolled into town late Saturday night and we figured out that in the last two weeks we’ve driven through sixteen states. It was a heck of a trip, we came back exhausted, exhilarated, TAN and just so so happy to finally be home.
We started our vacation at Folley beach, in South Carolina, where I had never been but the Morris family had spent a few days every summer during their childhood. They’d been away for the last ten years, and it was really fun to be a part of their family vacation while they experienced their favorite haunts as grownups. There was lots of reading, relaxing, dolphin spotting, and despite numerous applications of sunscreen, burning! Mo left for twelve hours on Wednesday to go to a final interview for a much coveted dream job in DC, while the rest of us spent the afternoon and evening wandering around Charleston (which is gorgeous) and eating (the BEST) seafood. By Friday my sunburn was starting to peel and Mo was officially employed in a grownup position in DC.
Saturday, after dropping Mo’s sister off at the airport so she could finish up her lovely summer life In Philly, interning at Anthropologie, we drove to Ohio with his parents. The weekend was filled with skyline, old high school friends and strawberry rhubarb pie, of course! Tis the season for rhubarb, and I got to use my newly gifted rolling pin for the occasion.

The original plan for this point in the vacation was to go to Ithaca, so see some of our favorite people in one of the most beautiful summertime places. Instead, Mo and I decided to drive to DC to do some apartment hunting. in one hundred degree weather. without really knowing the area. BUT, it wasn’t too too terrible and we did manage to put in an application for a place right next to the zoo. No, seriously. Our bedroom would overlook some sort of animal enclosure… I’m sure we’ll fit right in. DC also has fireboxes, so you know I’ll be happy living there.
Mo took me to Dangerously Delicious Pies while we were in town, and perhaps I can get a job baking for them, while I figure out what my own lady bakership is going to look like now that have a home.. Two weeks and sixteen states later, Mo and I have a future to look forward to in DC.
