This past weekend I spent my time in the kitchen putting together pies in jars for a few indiegogo supporters. I know I’ve said this before but I’m not abashed in saying it again, there is nothing cuter than a pie in a jar. Ira Glass kept me company while I carefully convinced crust to line the cutest of jars and coaxed cherries and pears into becoming the perfect filling.
These little jars were the perfect size to become teeny pies. The last jars I had tried to work with were much too tall and wobbly for their own good. Lining them with crust was unimaginably frustrating and trying to bake them, more often than not turned into a teetering tottering mess in the oven. But these jars were a breeze to line, fill and bake. Kerr’s 8oz wide mouth jars. dream.come.true.
sending them was a different story (one that I will not get in to but can only sincerely hope that they all made it in one piece) with the United States Postal Service doing as best they could. All I know is that they looked like this when I sent them out.
fingers crossed they arrived that way!
